We wanted to inform you about potential delays in shipments to certain areas in California due to severe weather conditions. Starting January 7th, parts of Los Angeles and surrounding regions have been impacted by strong winds and wildfires, which may affect the transit and delivery of some packages.
Current Situation
1️⃣ High Winds
• Wind Speed & Scope: Gusts have reached 50–70 mph (80–112 km/h), with some areas experiencing winds over 80 mph (129 km/h).
• Affected Areas: San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, and mountainous regions of Los Angeles County.
• Impact: Widespread tree falls, damaged power lines, and traffic disruptions. Flights at LAX have also been delayed or canceled.
2️⃣ Wildfires
• Location: Fires are primarily affecting northern Los Angeles and Ventura County.
• Impact: Highway closures (e.g., Highway 101), evacuation of nearby areas, and temporary shutdowns of some logistics hubs.
3️⃣ Delivery Delays
• Sorting Delays: Power outages have led to manual sorting at some facilities, slowing processing times.
• Road Closures: Fire-related roadblocks in areas such as San Gabriel, Arcadia, Palisades, and Ventura are hindering deliveries.
• Affected Zip Codes: 91002–91015 and 91201–90308.
When Will Conditions Improve?
The high winds are expected to subside by the evening of January 8th (PST). However, new wildfire activity in the San Francisco Bay Area may also cause disruptions, which we are closely monitoring.
